Food for thought

Cheese is in everything here--the pasta, sandwiches, and even on hot dogs. And in this case it was cooked all by itself in a pan over an open grill. I'm not complaining.

Mate is the only product more likely to be consumed than cheese at any given moment. We are devising a way to get people to tell us the stories of their mates--keep following the blog for more on that.

Alfredito lives next door, in the form of very delicious ice cream, particularly dulce de leche flavor. He is our friend.

Somewhere buried under the eggs, peppers, fries and veggies there lies a chivito for two. Surely one of Uruguay's greatest ideas.

But nothing so far has topped this backyard asado. The meat was roasted for hours and devoured in the blink of an eye. It was so good. Thanks to our wonderful hosts for inviting us out, and here's to many more meals together!

PAD Meeting in Rocha

We were invited to attend a meeting for the Profesores Articuladores Departamentales in Rocha. We had a fun time sharing English communicative activities with the PADs.

We stayed in cabins in La Paloma and walked along the beach in our free time. We can't wait until summer to visit again!

Our American Lives

We have successfully started our extra curricular English series called, "Our American Lives!" On Thursday, April 15th students joined us at Hotel Concordia for an English conversation night about travel. This Thursday we presented a short talk on road trips in the USA, which is a common passion among young people. Thanks to all participants for coming!

Join us each week for a new topic.

Tourism Week

School was out for the week, so we used our time to learn more about Uruguay.

We walked along the rambla in Mercedes.

We went to Villa Soriano and saw the oldest church in Uruguay.

We saw a timbó tree in Villa Soriano.
