Meetings Galore

It's only a couple of days into our stay here and we've already been introduced to so many Salteños. The mayor and other members of the community were on hand yesterday to honor the memory of Dr. Neri Campos Teixeira, who led the campaign to construct the Salto Grande Dam. There were also a number of reporters and writers in attendance, as well as members of the doctor's family.

The speeches, the unveiling of the monument and singing of the national anthems of Uruguay and Argentina were all quite moving.

Just as importantly, though, we've gotten to meet more of the people we'll be working with in the Instituto de Formacion Docente and the CERP, two teacher-training centers here in Salto. And of course we continue to benefit from the personal attention of our dear mentors (and neighbors), Maria Celia and Aldo.

Well, tomorrow is our first day of school. Wish us luck!
